Join CHILDREN AT RISK in North Texas, along with its partners,
on Friday, March 16th for the
Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Policy Luncheon
While 1 in 5 children in the United States is affected by mental illness, in the juvenile justice system, that number rises to a staggering 50%. This problem is compounded by the fact that Texas ranks 49th in the country for mental health expenditures. On Friday, March 16th we invite you to attend our Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Policy Luncheon to learn how Dallas County is taking positive steps to make juvenile mental health issues a priority. Learn about the recently established Juvenile Mental Health Docket in Dallas County, the impact it has had on the community, the challenges it faces, its success and its projected outcomes.
As a member of the BHLT you will receive a discount to the luncheon price. By using the link in the flyer, you will pay $15 for the luncheon instead of $35. If you have any additional questions please contact Diane Weaver Executive Director, I AM H.E.R.E. Coalition @ 972-744-9798, or by e-mail

Peer Alert
“Peers in recovery go where no providers have gone before”
Join Peers in long term recovery, Peers who are providing Peer Recovery Support Services and peers who are being of service throughout Dallas and surrounding Counties. Peers from the Faith Community, Al anon, AA, NA, CA, DRA, Self Directed Care, P.E.E.R, formally incarcerated peers, Recovery Coaches, Peer Specialist, and other paths of recovery.
The purpose of the meeting is:
- To invite, educate and include Peers in long term recovery on behalf of Peer Services of the Behavioral Health Leadership Team (BHLT). This effort is lead by Dallas County and the Parkland System providing an opportunity to strategically review all of the behavioral healthcare entities available in the Dallas County area.
- To educate the Peer Community about local, state and national Recovery Service movement.
- To emphasize the fact that funding, budget cuts and empathy for people and providers affected by alcohol and other drugs/mental health is diminishing. Therefore, peers and peer support services should be connected, prepared and be ready to assist with peer support services in the surrounding area of Dallas County.
- To explore integrated recovery principles for Dallas County Behavioral Healthcare.
- To be inclusive with resources around peer engagement, housing, employment, mental health supports and other peer recovery supports.
